Hot Springs, Cool Town

Our Attractions

After soaking in our healing hot springs, take in a movie at our historic theater, explore our region's past and present at one of our museums or head into the great southwest wilderness at any one of our local or state parks.

El Cortez Historic Theater

The historic El Cortez, located downtown, was built in 1935 at the corner of Main and Foch Streets.

Upgraded to digital and improved sound now, it was one of the last theaters in the US to show 35mm film.

Hollywood Haute Dogs is a snack bar and concession stand inside the theater. Beer and New Mexico spirits are served during showtimes.

Geronimo Springs Museum

Sierra County's oldest museum, the Geronimo Springs Museum, constructs a comprehensive history of the county and its inhabitants. Collections include everything from fossils to a world-class pottery exhibit to historic Hispanic and Apache artifacts.

Permanent exhibits include the Southwestern pottery collection, mostly in the famous Mimbres and Tularosa style, dating from A.D. 200 to A.D. 1350.

A life-size wax statue of Geronimo dominates the Apache room; artifacts, photographs and information about Apache life fill the space.

Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway Visitor Center

With all of the info you need to make the most out of your visit to Truth or Consequences and Sierra County, the Geronimo Trail National Scenic Byway Visitor Center is conveniently located downtown.

The Visitor Center offers maps, brochures and other information on local area attractions and amenities.

On Saturdays, tours of Spaceport America depart from this location.

Healing Waters Plaza

Located in the heart of downtown Truth or Consequences, the Healing Waters Plaza features hot springs fountains, a shade structure, planters, and two rows of palm trees.

It is within easy walking distance of downtown T or C’s restaurants, hotels, and shops. It’s a nice place to stop and hang out during a walk around town, and a great venue for medium-to-small gatherings.

You'll find it between Ted Turner’s Sierra Grande on McAdoo and the Lee Belle Johnson building on Foch.

Veterans Memorial Park

Within the park are several attractions including the Hamilton Military Museum, the Walk of Education and other tributes to Veterans and the wars in which they served.

The primary focal point of the park is “The Wall” — a half-sized replica of Washington DC’s Vietnam Wall memorial, one of several smaller walls that traveled the country beginning in the mid-1990s, and a must-see for service members of every age.

The Walk of Education, located just south of the Wall, is a walkway forming the shape of a Congressional Medal of Honor. Along the path are 16 markers commemorating each conflict in which the U.S. has been involved since 1775.
